| KWCC LAUNCHES FUND-RAISING DRIVE FOR MINI-BUS |

Kings Way Care Centre has begun raising money for wheelchair-accessible mini-bus for its residents and seniors in the Kennebecasis Valley. The “Lighting Up Lives” campaign has two funding-raising components: “Our 75 residents are in critical need of a mini-bus,” said KWCC chief executive officer, Judy Lane. “They are very disappointed when they cannot attend community activities due to a lack of transportation or require an ambulance to take them to medical appointments.” Lane noted that Kings Way Care Centre is a not-for-profit facility, and with other pressing needs at the new home, there is no immediate prospect of being able to afford a mini-bus, which has an estimated price tag of close to $100,000. “Having a mini-bus would allow our residents to maintain the community involvement they once knew and now have lost,” she said. “A large percentage of our residents or their families have roots in the Kennebecasis Valley.” The KWCC Christmas tree will be lit on Dec. 21, at 6:30 p.m, followed by caroling, hot chocolate and cookies. The tree lighting will be preceded by a worship service at 6 p.m. The general public is cordially invited. |
