| KINGS WAY CARE CENTRE BECOMES SPONSOR OF KENNEBEC MANOR NURSING HOME |

For almost two years, the two homes have been sharing key management resources, including a common chief executive officer, treasury and maintenance services and a medical team that includes a nurse practitioner. “The sharing of our management personnel has been very positive,” said Mike Brannen, chair of the board of Kings Way Care Centre. “To strengthen this relationship even further, effective immediately the two facilities have entered into a shared governance model whereby the Board of KWCC has assumed sponsorship of Kennebec Manor.” CEO Judy Lane said residents and their families can be assured there will be no significant changes in the current levels of service being offered at both homes. She said the “care of residents and a smooth transition is of utmost importance. “Through new joint opportunities and synergies brought about by this sponsorship change, we expect over time to be able to further enrich the lives of those who call Kennebec Manor and Kings Way Care Centre their homes,” Lane said. Kennebec Manor has been operating under the sponsorship of the Seventh-day Adventist Church since its opening in 1980. With the change in sponsorship, Doug MacArthur, the chair of the former KMI Board, said his organization will be able to focus on other areas of service in the community. “As we hand over our board responsibility, we are delighted it is to a board that has a similar Christian philosophy of service to the community”, he said. MacArthur said his board is “pleased and confident that Judy Lane and her administrative team will continue to provide the highest level of care to the residents of both homes.” He also acknowledged both past and current residents and their families, volunteers and staff of Kennebec Manor. “We wish to express appreciation to the employees of Kennebec Manor for their faithful service over the years, the same to the many volunteers who have given of their energies in support of the home, appreciation to New Brunswick Nursing Home Services for their cooperation in making the nursing home a place of quality care and finally to the residents for the privilege to have served them.” Kings Way Care Centre (KWCC) is located along the Gondola Point arterial in Quispamsis on land donated by the adjacent Kings Way Assembly church, the home’s sponsor. The 75-bed long-term care facility opened its doors on Feb. 14, 2008.
